Ambitious Strategy, Translated Into Shipped Work.

APlus Strategy is the firm technical executives bring in when the strategy is set and the operating reality has not caught up. We work with aerospace and defense primes, mid-market engineering firms, and growth-stage technical companies that need senior consultants embedded in the operating rhythm, not a deck and an exit.

01 / Services

Five practice areas, all built around installing the work.

The firm exists because most strategy decisions die in the operating layer. Each service below is built to close that gap with senior consultants doing the work, not narrating it.

ST01 · Strategy

Strategy Translation

Board-approved strategy is rewritten into operating moves the leadership team can actually execute on quarter by quarter. Sequenced bets, named owners, and decision rules for what is in scope and what is not.

  • Strategy-to-Ops
  • Quarterly Bets
  • Decision Rules
  • Capital Allocation
OR02 · Cadence

Operating-Rhythm Engineering

We design and install the weekly, monthly and quarterly rhythm that runs the business: leadership team meetings, program reviews, performance check-ins, and the metrics that drive them. For the recurring 1:1 and performance-review cadence we install, we work with our software partner HeyRamp, so leaders have a structured place to run weekly check-ins, capture decisions, and track follow-through.

  • LT Cadence
  • Program Reviews
  • 1:1 Discipline
  • Metric Trees
PP03 · Programs

Program & Portfolio Review

Independent review of program health across a portfolio: cost, schedule, technical risk and execution risk. Where the leadership team needs a senior outside read on which programs are recoverable, which need re-scoping, and which should be killed.

  • Program Health
  • Portfolio Triage
  • Earned Value
  • Risk Re-baselining
XT04 · Leaders

Executive Team Performance

Sharpening how the executive team makes decisions, holds each other accountable and runs the operating rhythm. Built for technical leadership teams that are strong individually and uneven as a unit. We pair the engagement with HeyRamp so the new accountability cadence has a home, not a spreadsheet.

  • Team Charter
  • Decision Rights
  • Accountability
  • 1:1 Standards
CB05 · Capability

Capability Build-Out

Stand up the function that the next stage of the business actually needs: program management office, engineering operations, supply-chain risk, contracts and proposals. We build the team, install the process, and hand it back instrumented.

  • PMO Build
  • Eng Ops
  • Supply-Chain Risk
  • Contracts & Proposals
02 / Formats

Three engagement formats, fitted to the decision.

Every engagement begins with a fixed-fee diagnostic. From there we move into the format that matches the work, not the format that maximizes billing.

02 – 04 Weeks

Diagnostic

Fixed-fee read of strategy, operating model, program portfolio and leadership team. Output is a written brief: what we would do, what we would not, and what the honest first step is.

03 – 07 Months

Install Engagement

Embedded senior consultants two to four days per week. Diagnose, design, install, and hand-off, with a defined scope and a milestone schedule. The standard shape of our work.

Quarterly

Operating Retainer

Light-touch follow-through for clients post-install. Quarterly working sessions with the leadership team, a standing review of the operating rhythm, and senior advisory on call when it earns its keep.

Operating Discipline

We are paid for what is running after we leave, not for the report we hand over.

Most consulting engagements end at a slide deck and an exit interview. APlus engagements end with installed cadence, named owners, an instrumented metric tree, and a hand-off document the leadership team can run from. The point is that the change is visible in the operating data a quarter later.

100% Senior Delivery No juniors fronting partner pitches. The people who scope the work do the work.
04 Phase Model Diagnose, design, install, hand-off. Same on every engagement. No surprises mid-flight.
2–4 Days On-Site Embedded in the operating week, not parachuted in for a workshop and gone.
Q+1 Verified Impact Hand-off is structured so the change is visible in operating data the quarter after we leave.
04 / Method

A four-phase engagement, run the same way every time.

Same phases on every engagement. Same artefacts at the end of each one. The discipline is what lets us run lean teams without losing rigor.

PHASE 01 · DIAGNOSE

Diagnose

Two-to-four-week structured read of strategy, operating model, programs and leadership team. Ends in a written diagnostic and a recommendation on whether to proceed.

PHASE 02 · DESIGN

Design

Working sessions with the leadership team to design the operating moves, cadence and accountability changes. Output is a signed-off install plan with named owners and a milestone schedule.

PHASE 03 · INSTALL

Install

Embedded delivery. Senior consultants run install alongside the team, in the actual operating week. Cadence is held, metrics are instrumented, the new rhythm is rehearsed until it runs without us.

PHASE 04 · HAND-OFF

Hand-off

Written hand-off pack, named internal owner for every installed piece, and a quarterly follow-through retainer to keep the operating data honest. By Q+1 the change is in your numbers.

05 / Clients

Where our work lands.

Three kinds of company come to us. The pattern across all three is engineering-led leadership and an operating layer that has stopped keeping up with the strategy.

01 / Client Class

Technical Mid-Market

Engineering-led firms between 100 and 1,500 people whose strategy outruns their operating system. CEOs and COOs bring us in to install the operating discipline that scales the business past founder-driven decisions.

02 / Client Class

Gov Primes & Subs

Defense and aerospace primes, tier-one and tier-two suppliers, and the new generation of cleared mid-market firms. Program review, portfolio triage, PMO build-out, and the operating-rhythm work that follows a post-award scale-up.

03 / Client Class

Growth-Stage Technical Firms

Hardware, robotics, space, autonomy and applied-AI businesses past Series B that need to translate technical bets into a real operating model. We pair with the founding team to install the leadership and program discipline the next stage requires.

06 / FAQ

The questions buyers ask before briefing us.

What CEOs, COOs and program executives usually want to know before they put an engagement on the table.

Who does APlus Strategy work with?

Engineering-led mid-market companies, aerospace and defense primes and their tier-one and tier-two suppliers, and growth-stage technical firms that have outrun their internal operating systems. Most clients are between 75 and 1,500 people. Decision-makers are usually CEOs, COOs, division presidents, or VPs of engineering and operations.

What does an engagement look like in practice?

Every engagement runs the same four phases: Diagnose, Design, Install, Hand-off. We embed senior consultants two to four days a week, work alongside your leadership team in their actual operating cadence, and instrument what gets installed so the change is visible after we leave. No off-site theatre, no twenty-person teams, no slide-only deliverables.

How is APlus Strategy different from a big consulting firm?

Three things. First, senior-only delivery. The people who scope the work do the work. There is no army of juniors to brief. Second, we specialize in technical and aerospace mid-market firms, not Fortune 100 transformations. The methods are calibrated to engineering-led businesses, not consumer brands. Third, we measure the engagement on what is installed and running after we leave, not on the thickness of the report we hand over.

Do you work on-site in Huntsville or remotely?

Both. Our office sits in the Huntsville aerospace corridor, which is where most of our defense and aerospace work originates. For clients elsewhere we work hybrid: on-site for diagnostic and install phases, remote for design and follow-through. We do not run pure-remote engagements for technical operating-model work because the signal you need is on the shop floor and in the engineering room.

What does a typical engagement cost and how long does it run?

A diagnostic runs two to four weeks and is fixed-fee. Design and install phases typically run three to seven months on a milestone schedule. Hand-off and follow-through is usually a light-touch retainer for the quarter after install. Pricing is shaped to scope, not to billable hours, and we will tell you honestly when the right answer is a smaller engagement or no engagement at all.
